void Blog::init() {

Welcome to my not so original “Hello Planet!” post. I’m Xavier Vello, KDE and Debian contributor. This blog will of course be FLOSS-centric, and mostly about my upcoming KDE hacking.

Now that KDE 4.2 is freezing and kio_bookmarks is in good shape, it’s time to think about 4.3. I’ll stay focused on Konqueror bookmarks with two projects :

  • Port the KDE bookmarks system to Akonadi / Nepomuk (see details, comments are welcome). A lot of work has already been done, but we now need to fit the pieces together
  • Refactor kio_boomarks to use the new bookmarks system and a native Qt interface (it’s now outputing HTML to Konqueror)

This blog will hopefully be a place to share thoughts and collect feedback. Let’s see how it turns out.

    Will the new bookmarks system support tagging? That’s something I’d love to have in Konqueror’s/KDE’s bookmarks since forever ;-)

    Best regards, Elias P.

    @eliasp : that’s one reason for the port, see http://techbase.kde.org/Projects/PIM/Akonadi/Bookmarks
